Do you wish that you could just stop your trending searches from showing up on your Google search results? I mean, it can get embarrassing and cause problems when people can see what you’ve been Googling. I know I wish there was an easy way to do this, and now thanks to this article, I can finally say goodbye to my trending searches! It’s so easy! I did it in just four simple steps, and now there’s nothing embarrassing about my Google search history anymore! If you want to find out how to get rid of trending searches on google, then keep reading!

Turn Off Location Services

The easiest way to remove a search term from your Google search history is by turning off location services. Whenever you are searching for something and have location services enabled, Google will use that information (along with other data) when deciding which results it should show you. If you want to stop seeing a certain topic in your search history, all you need to do is turn off location services for that particular browser session.

  1. Open up your browser, and head over to the settings page
  2. Scroll down until you see Privacy or Location and select one of them depending on what type of browser you’re using, Chrome or Firefox
  3. Once you’ve selected this option, scroll down and find Permissions
  4. Turn off the permissions box next to Location History
  5. Hit done!

You’ll notice that as soon as you close out of your browser, any previously searched terms will disappear from your search history and won’t be included in future searches either.

Go Incognito

If you are determined to not have a certain search show up in your Google history, there is an easy way. All you need to do is go incognito. Once you’re logged into your account, just open the browser and type the phrase you want censored into the URL bar. When it pops up as a possible suggestion, click on it. You will be taken to a new tab with that search term alone.

To make sure that this is what you want, right-click and select incognito from the drop-down menu. Now when you look at your history in Google Chrome or other browsers, this particular search will not be there because it was only in one window!

Set Up Search Preferences

Have you ever searched for something, only to find that the next time you type it into Google, it automatically suggests what you just searched? That’s because Google has a list of search terms that are trending and they’ll suggest them when they think it will be relevant. If there are certain topics you’re not interested in or don’t want popping up in your search history, then here’s how to stop Google from suggesting those terms. Go to Google settings and select search setting then find auto-complete trending searches. You just need to select “Do Not Show Popular Searches”. You can also manage search history there.

Go Into Desktop Mode

On a computer, you can use the sidebar menu to find and delete your search history by clicking History then selecting All time. From here, you’ll be able to scroll through all your past searches. To delete an individual search, click the search result and select Delete. Alternatively, you can click Clear all at the top of the page if you’d like to clear your entire history at once. If this is too much information for you to keep track of, don’t worry: You have control over what Google remembers about your past queries.
